Brow Aftercare

Please note that it is your responsibility to follow aftercare correctly. Only by following it correctly can we achieve good results.

TODAY, AFTER THE TREATMENT, CLEAN OR BLOT THE AREA EVERY 30 MINUTES UNTIL YOU GO TO SLEEP USING STERILE WATER WIPES, HUGGIES PURE WATER WIPES OR A CLEAN DRY TISSUE.

If a crust appears on the pigmented surface, DO NOT FORCE THE REMOVAL BY PICKING, SCRATCHING OR WASHING!! PIGMENT MAY BE REMOVED ALONG WITH THE CRUST!

For up to two weeks after your appointment, the procedure area may experience the following symptoms:

  • Flaking
  • Tenderness
  • Dryness and itching – THIS IS NORMAL
  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • The colour of the eyebrows gets much darker because of the scabs. THIS IS NORMAL! When the scabs fall off, the pigment will look very light but will resurface in three weeks; again, THIS IS NORMAL!

IMPORTANT “DO NOTs” FOR TWO WEEKS

  1. Soaps, facial cleaners, and water on pigmented areas. If the area gets wet, gently pat it with a tissue.
  2. Washing the pigmented area.
  3. Chlorine pools
  4. Retin-A on pigmented areas.
  5. Makeup on pigmented area for five days, including non-allergic
  6. Hot, steamy, long showers.
  7. Sun/sun beds on pigmented areas.
  8. Jacuzzi or saunas.
  9. Ensure you wash your hair tilted backwards to stop water running down your face.
  10. Do not try to hide your eyebrows with your fringe in the first 2 weeks, this it the easiest way to cause infection – keep your fringe away from your eyebrows.
  11. Shower with your back to the water to avoid water, shampoo and conditioner getting into the pigmented area.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Do not be alarmed by any fading after the first application. The final colour cannot be judged until at least four weeks after the touch-up applications are completed, which is why follow-ups are required.

Your skin needs to repair itself, so the excess pigment particles on the surface dry up and form a crust along with skin cells (depending on skin type, some clients hardly notice the crust, whilst others have a definite scab).

This will come away gradually over the next week to 10 days, sometimes a little longer. It can sometimes look like hardly any pigment has held. THIS IS NORMAL.

It’s almost like the skin has formed a milky opaque layer over the pigment to protect the newly regenerated skin cells. The colour WILL resurface over the following four weeks, and so it’s far too early to worry or judge the results only a week after treatment.

Also, we have to be honest and make clear the realistic expectations of a permanent makeup treatment.

Natural mineral-based pigment is inserted very shallowly into the skin, so it heals like a skin TINT. Regardless of the pigment choice, it can NEVER be as dark, as vibrant, or give the same coverage as conventional makeup. Makeup gives the skin a camouflage effect, while pigment blends with the natural skin tone.

GENERAL POST-PROCEDURE INFORMATION

To keep your permanent cosmetic work in perfect condition, it may be necessary to have a maintenance procedure at any given time, though this will vary for each individual. Please see the current price list for details. To avoid the pigment fading for as long as possible, avoid excessive exposure to the sun or UV rays and use a good sunscreen with an SPF50 EVERY DAY.

If you are planning an MRI scan, chemical peel, or similar procedure, please inform your practitioner that you have had permanent cosmetics.

You are not eligible to give blood for 6 months after your procedure. Please inform the National Blood Service of your procedure and date if you want to give blood.

If you are planning injections such as Botox or collagen, remember that it can alter the shape of your eyebrows.

Laser hair removal can fade and change the shape of your brow procedure. Always advise the laser technician that you have permanent cosmetics so they can act accordingly.
